Prokris and Kephalos, Couple with Trust Issues
Highschool sweethearts Prokris and Kephalos dealt with quite some insecurities. Just to test his wife’s fidelity, Kephalos went on a trip for eight years. Ironically, it was he himself who met temptation, in the form of dawn goddess Eos. He held her off for a while, but she laughed in his face when he bragged about his faithful wife. How about approaching her in disguise and see what would happen? After eight years of loneliness, could anyone blame Prokris for welcoming some heartfelt attention? When he revealed himself, she fled to Artemis, virgin goddess of the hunt, maybe not the wisest choice. Artemis handed her a magic javelin, as a reconciliation gift for Kephalos. And why not put him through the same test? After he failed it too, they reconciled, but she couldn’t keep herself from spying on him. One day, hidden in the bushes, she heard him cry out for relief. It was just a little breeze that he craved, but she jumped up in outrage. Instinctively, he threw his javelin, and she died in his arms. Just a little trust would have made life easier. And longer.
